The exploration of the atomic bombs started with the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan Project was a research project that developed the first atomic bombs during World War II. They were created in Los Alamos, New Mexico by those who were helping in the Manhattan Project. The bombs were made on July 16, 1945. The first bomb was called "Little Boy", it was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. The other was named "Fat Man" dropped in Nagasaki two days after the first bomb. That was the bomb that ended the war.
At first, America showed no interest in the bomb that Germany was making. Then Albert Einstein sent a letter to Franklin D. Roosevelt informing him of the nuclear warhead that Germany could potentially start. This scared Roosevelt into starting the Manhattan Project.
